Dear Mum,
I know I don't ring you often enough, and no one hears from me for months at a time, but I do find that you're in my thoughts often. I wonder what your house looks like, or whether you're sewing or doing cross stitch. I wonder if you're lonely with Doc still up in IL and you in TX. Though now that I think about it, it's been so long since we spoke that he might be living down there and I wouldn't know.
Anyway, I know your birthday is coming up, and believe it or not, I did actually start working on your birthday/housewarming gift in what should have been plenty of time to complete it and post it over the big pond. But I am a foolish woman always full of great ideas, who has a million PhDs (Project half Done) haunting my little studio, glaring at me with accusing eyes. So, in short, I have gotten this far:

It's not the most even quilting job I've ever done, but I can say that the quilting is almost finished, which just leaves the binding. Because I know myself, I won't give you a date of when it will be done. I might have 100 great ideas that get in the way. But it shouldn't be too long. I hope. I really don't want it to be a /Xmas gift too.
