Hello! Well, I've lived in the UK since 2002, but a couple of weeks ago I finally managed to get my automatic driving license! I tried lessons in a geared car, but I really hated it - it seemed like every time the lady would tell me to do something - like sit on my 'biting point'- my 17yr old American driver's education would kick it and my brain would scream: DON'T DO THAT--IT'S DANGEROUS!!! And then I'd freeze, trying to decide what to do. Not good when you're driving a car in already-unfamiliar-wrong-side-of-the-road-traffic.
So I took lessons from Zodiac driving (no relation to the serial killer) in a brand new lime green Clio - how cool did I look? - and on Friday, August 13th - WOOOOOO, scary! - I passed the test! And nothing remotely supernatural happened! So, 3 days later Buzz and I went to a dealer (it was truly awful) and bought an automatic, and I LOVE my car! I think it will make a real difference in my ability to finally truly integrate into UK life...
It's a little Mazda, and she doesn't have a name yet. Suggestions welcome!I've also been doing a lot of sewing, trying to get this handmade handbag biz off the ground. Here's what I've got so far:

It's not a great pic as it's off of my phone and the G1 has a really rubbish camera, but I'm still proud of it :) (the bag, not the phone!)
Et moi? Well, lately, I've been carrying this around:
I've had loads of compliments and one nice lady even hinted that she wanted to buy one, so I've cut out another one which I hope to sell... matching the pockets and flaps isn't easy, but it's so worth the effort when it looks so good. (Thanks to Savi for modelling) My goal is to have stuff up for sale online by the end of September. Ha Ha.Anyhoo, here's a sneak preview of the Appliqued Apron tutorial, which I am still assembling and writing:
Isn't that cute? I've decided I'm going to have to do 2 tutes, 1 for the applique and 1 for the apron, as I imagine not everyone will want to do an applique and might just want to get down to business with the apron. Thanks to all who read this!
Hey! thanks for popping over... you went to a Hooters? LOL - I'd be gobsmacked if they had anything remotely vegetarian!! Seriously, how can anyone in this day and age not know what vegetarian is? unbelievable.
ReplyDeleteThe pissing pooping pups made me giggle - get enough of that from my real life ones!!
Love the Mazda - I'd call her Zoom.
The bags are great - really lov ethe fabric of the back pack.. looks very kath Kidston.
Where in the UK do you live? I'm a Brit, living in the US :O)
Oops - Ok -just read the big writing up top - we have done the same, but opposite ha ha.
ReplyDeleteI married a Yank :O) (although he hates me using the term yank, so I hope I haven't offended you either!)
